 オックスフォード大学寄付講座

 当財団は2002年7月オックスフォード大学に寄附講座を設置し、オックスフォード大学応用倫理学教授（Uehiro Chair）ジュリアン・サヴァレスキュ教授（Prof.
Julian Savulescu）及び研究員（Uehiro Fellow）ロジャ・クリスプ博士（Dr. Roger Crisp）に対する助成を開始いたしました。
ジュリアン・サヴァレスキュ教授は2002年に「Oxford Centre for Appried Ethics」を設立し、所長に就任しました。2003年6月に「Oxford
Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics」と改称しました。同教授または研究員を年に一度、日本に招聘し、東京大学や京都大学等におけるセミナー・講義等を通して、日本の研究者との研究交流を推進しております。
教授は2008年オーストラリア・モナッシュ大学の名誉卒業生の称号を受けました。この賞は毎年同大学の卒業生1人を選考し授与されるものですが、過去ノーベル賞受賞者を含めた著名な方々に与えられている称号です。また、教授はオーストラリアのトップ10に入る科学研究者として、オーストラリアのニューリーダー100人リストにも掲載されました。
さらに、生物学への貢献により王立憲章によって設立された英国の生物学研究所のフェローにも選出されました。ほかにも、1799年に英国の最先端の科学者たちが設立した英国王立研究所のメンバーにも選出されています。
UFEE has supported University of Oxford (UO) in its academic activities on practical ethics. In July 2002, UFEE set up the Uehiro Professorship in Applied Ethics, and UO appointed Dr Julian Savulescu to be the first Uehiro Professor of Applied Ethics. Setting up the Oxford Centre for Applied Ethics at the Faculty of Philosophy in the Humanities Division of UO, Prof. Savulescu became the first Director of the Centre. It is expected to be a centre for academic research, teaching and exchange of information for researchers or institutions throughout the world which specialize in practical ethics.
In June 2003, the name of the centre was changed to the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. Each year the Center invites the eminent academic from home and abroad for the special lectures at UO. The Centre will assist with arrangements for publishing book series related to practical ethics through Oxford University Press.
The UO had changed the name of the Oxford Centre for Applied Ethics to the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics in June 2003. Each year the appropriately qualified non-Oxford academic will be invited to the Centre for the Lectures at UO. The Centre will assist with arrangements for publishing book series related to practical ethics, through Oxford University Press.
Recently Prof. Savulescu appears in the Australians list of 100 emerging leaders as one of the top 10 leaders in science from Australia. He was also awarded the title of distinguished alumnus at Monash University. This is only awarded to one person each year, includes Nobel laureates and other famous people.
And he has been elected to a fellow of the Institute of Biology in the
UK, established by Royal charter, for his contributions to biology. He
is also a member of Royal Institution, which was founded in 1799 by the
leading British scientists.
